Loyle Carner responds to people who don’t know who he is after BRITs nominations

He might get #whoisloylecarner printed on t-shirts

Loyle Carner has responded on Twitter to the people who don’t know who he is after he received two BRIT Awards nominations at the weekend.

Carner is up for British Male Solo Artist and British Breakthrough Act at this year’s BRITs, which will take place at London’s The O2 Arena on February 21.

Following the nominations announcement, some took to social media to express their confusion about Carner’s nominations.

One user wrote: “Um, who is Loyle Carner? No disrespect to Loyle, but I’ve never heard of him. To the Brit Awards voting academy, how did he get nominated for British Male Solo Artist of the year? I don’t get it…”

Responding, Loyle appeared to take the situation in jest and encouraged fans to use the #whoisloylecarner hashtag.

When one fan suggested that Carner turns the hashtag into a t-shirt, he replied: “innit”.

One of Carner’s initial sceptics has since apologised, writing: “By the replies I’ve received, many people have heard of Loyle & like his music. I will definitely have a listen now. I apologise to Loyle & anyone I’ve offended”.
