Lucasfilm could release more Solo films – including a spin-off focusing on Donald Glover’s character, Lando Calrissian.
Solo: A Star Wars Story premiered on May 11. The Ron Howard-directed movie stars Glover alongside Emilia Clarke, Woody Harrelson, Phoebe Waller-Bridge and Joonas Suotamo. Following its release, many critics have praised the franchise’s latest outing.

After its opening at Cannes Film Festival, it’s looking like Lucasfilm head Kathleen Kennedy has future Solo projects in mind.
Speaking in an interview with Premiere France, she said that a new instalment could centre around Glover’s Calrissian.
“We think that the next spin-off will be dedicated to Lando Calrissian,” she said. “Of course, there are still many stories to tell about Han and Chewbacca, but Lando will be next.”
However, Lucasfilm later said that Kennedy had been misquoted. “[Kennedy] said it’s something she’d like to do one day in the future,” a rep from the film company clarified.
Solo: A Star Wars Story is released on May 25.
Meanwhile, Donald Glover recently spoke of landing the role in the upcoming film. “I told my agent, ‘If they’re making a Han Solo movie, Lando’s gotta be in it and I wanna be Lando’,” he told Jimmy Kimmel. “And to his credit – and I appreciate it – he was like, ‘I don’t like your odds’, which was awesome cos I was like, ‘I’mma get this.’”
Asked what he did when he got the job, he revealed: “I did call my dad first and told him, and that was a big moment. He was proud. And then I got a large cheese pizza and then went home and watched The Empire Strikes Back. And that was it – research.”
Glover is also currently releasing music under the name Childish Gambino. Earlier this month, he dropped the political track ‘This Is America‘.
