Lush’s Miki Berenyi forms supergroup featuring members of Elastica, Moose and Modern English

"Mystery over"....

Miki Berenyi of 90s favourites Lush has revealed that she’s forming a new supergroup featuring members of Elastica, Moose and Modern English.

Posting on Twitter, singer Miki Berenyi unveiled new group Piroshka – which features Elastica’s Justin Welch, Moose’s KJ McKillop and Modern English’s Michael Conroy.

Berenyi explained that she decided to enlist Conroy after he took the place of Phil King at Lush’s last ever show in 2016.

“Ok, so if you hadn’t pieced it together – mystery over. The new band is me, Moose, Justin Welch and (drum roll…) Michael Conroy (Modern English)”, Berenyi wrote.

“He was such an amazing star stepping in at the last ever Lush show that I’ve not since let him out of my sight.”

Commenting on the news, one fan said: “This is epic!! All the bright stars under one roof. The sound will be stupendous! Stargaze bliss!”

In 2016, Lush unveiled their first material for 20 years.

The EP ‘Blind Spot’ was described by Berenyi as “what is close to my heart”.

“I realised early on with this EP that what I wrote about then is not what I feel comfortable writing about now”, she said.
“My perspective, and what is close to my heart, has changed, and I think that’s conveyed in the songs.”
