M83 have finished work on their next album, following recent reports that a new LP will be released in 2016.
The electronic outfit – led by Anthony Gonzalez – last released an album in 2011 with ‘Hurry Up, We’re Dreaming’.
Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, Gonzalez has confirmed the news and described the record as “epic” and “eclectic”.
“It’s a very strong album with a lot of eclecticism,” he said. “It’s very epic. There’s a lot of different genres that are not supposed to live together but I tried to make them live together, which is quite challenging. It’s also quite different from the previous albums, which is what I’m the most proud of.”
M83 recently released a compilation of remixes and b-sides from 2008 album ‘Saturdays = Youth’, plus reissues of that album and 2007’s ‘Digital Shades’.
M83 recently collaborated with Haim for ‘Holes In The Sky’ from the Divergent Series: Insurgent movie soundtrack.
“We’ve been fans of Anthony Gonzalez and M83 for a long long time, so when he reached out to have us sing on the song we were ecstatic,” Haim said of the collaboration.
