Mac DeMarco shares ‘Rollin Like a Dummy’ demo, promises ‘new music soon’

Previously unheard demo taken from the recording sessions of his 2012 album ‘2’

Mac DeMarco has shared previously unheard demo ‘Rollin Like a Dummy’ on Reddit, in a post that promises “new music soon”.

DeMarco shared a four-track version of the song via WeTransfer, adding: “I don’t know how many downloads it’ll allow, or when it expires”, so DeMarco fans keen to get hold of new music from the Canadian may need to move fast.

“Everybody’s always asking for a recording of this song,” the musician added. “So I’m finally getting around to it. It’s a four-track version I did when I was demoing for ‘2’, I did a final version but it never made it out of tape land and onto the computer, maybe I’ll find it someday.”

Speaking about the prospect of new music in the Reddit post, DeMarco said: “I just had penis enlargement surgery so my balance is all out of whack and I can’t play my drums properly right now, but soon enough I’ll get used to this new piece.”

In February, DeMarco covered Billy Joel’s ‘Just The Way You Are’ at a Planned Parenthood benefit gig. That came shortly after he dropped unreleased song ‘Missin The Old Me’, which was recorded in the interim period between ‘2’ and its follow-up ‘Salad Days’, the album that came it at number two in NME’s Albums Of 2014 list.
