Mac DeMarco has shared a new Christmas cover in collaboration with Australian musician Kirin J. Callinan.
The ‘This Old Dog’ star is no stranger to a festive cover, having shared his take on Paul McCartney’s ‘Wonderful Christmas Time’ last year. Now, he’s released a version of the Nat King Cole classic ‘The Christmas Song’.
The track features on a special compilation titled ‘Valentine Recording Presents: A Christmas Miracle’, which will raise money for humanitarian aid group Direct Relief and help victims of the California wildfires. The album also features contributions from the likes of Weyes Blood and Alex Cameron, while DeMarco appears again on ‘The 12 Days Of Christmas’.
The compilation is available to buy now on Bandcamp. You can listen to DeMarco’s take on ‘The Christmas Song’ below.
Meanwhile, the musician has reportedly produced a new song for Logic, which is due to feature on the soundtrack to a new book written by the rapper. Supermarket will be published sometime in 2019 by Simon & Schuster and is about “a guy falling in love with a girl”.
DeMarco will appear at next year’s All Points East festival in East London, it has been confirmed. He will perform at the event in Hackney’s Victoria Park on June 2, alongside headliner Bon Iver and other acts including First Aid Kit, John Grant, Snail Mail, and more. Tickets are available to purchase here.
The festival will take place between May 24 and June 2, with The Chemical Brothers headlining the opening day. Spiritualized, Danny Brown, Little Simz, Hot Chop, and Primal Scream are amongst the other artists to have been announced, with more confirmations to come.
