Mac DeMarco confirms that a new album is coming this year

It'll be the debut release on his brand new label

Mac DeMarco has confirmed that he intends to release a new album in 2019.

The Canadian musician will follow 2017’s ‘This Old Dog’ with a full release at some point this year, which will be the first record to be released on DeMarco’s new label which he founded last year.

Called Mac’s Record Label, a brief press release states that the forthcoming new album will be the imprint’s debut release. DeMarco had been signed to Captured Tracks since his 2012 EP ‘Rock and Roll Night Club’, but it now appears that he has parted ways with that company.

More details about the upcoming album are expected to be announced soon.

Speaking to NPR last year, DeMarco hinted that he was becoming more at ease with writing about more serious subjects.

“If a time comes or, like, you know, something where I need to be frank or be honest or be, you know, earnest or whatever, I’m capable of doing it,” he said. “I’m a human being, you know. But I think that goofy gets a lot more click-bait than earnest.”
