Macklemore teams up with Oscar The Grouch for ‘Sesame Street’ version of ‘Thrift Shop’ – watch

Rapper promotes wearing rubbish instead of clothes in new version of hit single

Macklemore has recorded a child-friendly version of his hit single ‘Thrift Shop’ for kids TV show, Sesame Street.

The rapper released the hit single in 2012 but has returned to it for 2015 alongside Oscar The Grouch. In Oscar’s version of the song he promotes wearing litter as an outfit with the line “I’m gonna pop some tags, Only got twenty dollars in my pocket” replaced by “I’m gonna pop some trash, only got seven bags in my trash can.”

Earlier this month Macklemore announced that he and his fiancée Tricia Davis are expecting their first child. The rapper, whose real name is Ben Haggerty, posted on his Twitter page on January 3 to confirm the news.

Posting a video clip of the couple at an ultrasound visit, he tweeted “We wanted to share the news with you ourselves”.

Days earlier, the rapper confirmed another arrival via social media when a fan tweeted: “Its 2015 and I still don’t have a new @macklemore album wtf [sic]”. In response, Macklemore wrote: “You will this year. Believe that”. A new album from Macklemore and Ryan Lewis is expected in the second half of 2015.
