The LP, according to the star herself, is all about "impulse" and "will be like my last album times ten, on crack...on a rollercoaster"...
MACY GRAY has said her second album has a working title of ‘THE ID’, and is all about “impulse”.
According to the US website [url=]www.wallofsound.go.com, Gray spoke to reporters following the NAACP Image Awards in the US last Sunday (March 4).
She said the follow-up to ‘On How Life Is’ has a working title of ‘The Id’, and will be “like my last album times ten, on crack…on a rollercoaster.”
She continued: “I’ve got a song ‘Give Me All Your Lovin” or ‘I’m Gonna Kill You’. I’ve got a song called ‘Psychopath’. My next album is crazy. I’ve got a song called ‘Nutty Nutmeg Fantasy’. It’s called ‘The Id’. It’s all about impulse, like your emotional side. So, it’s a wild album.”
Speaking about where she thought she fitted in to the current music scene, Gray concluded: “I think I’ve got my own little spot because my music is not just straight. Everybody has their different ideas of what soul is, you know. But I think I’ve managed to mix R&B and rock and roll and hip-hop – and jazz even – and make it my own.
“You can call it ‘soul,’ but I think every artist has their approach to what soul is all about. I heard U2 say they were a soul act once, so you can’t really define it. I think it’s just a matter of where you’re coming from.”
There is no confirmed release date for the record in the UK.
