Elton John on Madonna: ‘She’s a fairground stripper and her career is over’

Eccentric singer isn't happy over Madonna's criticism of his friend Lady Gaga

Elton John has layed into Madonna, calling her a “fairground stripper” and saying that he believes “her career is over”.

The singer, who recently released his collaboration album with PNAU, has hit out at the ‘MDNA’ singer over her criticism of Lady Gaga and has said she is just doing it to cover up her own insecurities.

Speaking on Australian TV show Sunday Night, Elton John said when asked about Madonna: ”She’s such a nightmare. Sorry, her career is over. Her tour has been a disaster and it couldn’t happen to a bigger cunt.”

He continued: “If Madonna had any common sense she would have made a record like ‘Ray Of Light’ and stayed away from the dance stuff and just been a great pop singer and make great pop records, which she does brilliantly. But no, she had to go and prove she looks like a fucking fairground stripper. She’s been so horrible to Gaga.”

John’s remarks come after Madonna spoke out about the similarities between her track ‘Express Yourself’ and Lady Gaga‘s single ‘Born This Way’ by describing the latter as “reductive”.

The singer confirmed she had noted the similarities between her 1989 track and Gaga’s 2011 single and said she found it “amusing”. Talking about Gaga, she said: “She’s a very talented artist. I certainly think she references me a lot in her work. And sometimes I think it’s amusing and flattering and well done. When I heard [‘Born This Way’] on the radio… I said, ‘That sounds very familiar’… It felt reductive.”

This isn’t the first time Elton John has had a go at Madonna, he had previously accused her of “lip-syncing” during her live shows in 2007 and reignited the feud ahead of Madonna’s show at this year’s Super Bowl, when he told the singer to “lip-sync good”.

Madonna is currently in the middle of her ‘MDNA’ world tour.
