A nude photograph of Madonna wearing just high heels and holding a hand-bag was mistaken for a rare naked photo of Marilyn Monroe by an expert, who organised a news conference to unveil the finding as a picture of the late actress.
Marylyn Monroe expert Chris Harris, of Las Vegas, wrongly identified the photo after it was presented to him by the owners, Lawrence and Phyllis Nicastro, who found the photo stowed away in their home.
Harris organised a news conference in Las Vegas to announce the finding, but his mistake was exposed by a journalist he allowed to view the picture in advance, reports BBC News.
The reporter suggested that the image was in fact taken from Madonna’s 1992 book, ‘Sex’.
Harris replied by saying: “You’re right; it’s Madonna. If there ever was an embarrassing moment…”
