NME.COM understands it's highly likely that the queen of pop will be handing over the prestigous British art prize...

MADONNA is set to present this year’s TURNER PRIZE on December 9 at LONDON’s TATE BRITAIN gallery, NME.COM has learned.

A spokesperson for Tate Britain declined to confirm the star’s likely appearance this afternoon (October 1), but revealed an announcement would be made within the next two days.

The Turner Prize, established in 1984, has for the past ten years restricted its remit to giving £20,000 to a ‘British artist under 50 for an outstanding exhibition or other presentation of their work’. The shortlist, featuring avant-garde, outlandish and daring artefacts, invariably provokes a storm of controversy.
