But 'American Life' is still the highest new entry...

MADONNA has failed to reach Number One with her comeback single ‘AMERICAN LIFE’, and COLDPLAY have ended WHITE STRIPES two week reign at the top of the albums chart.

‘American Life’, the video for which was famously pulled at the last minute, is the highest new entry for Madonna this week at Number Two. However, it didn’t sell enough to knock Room 5 featuring Oliver Cheatham from the top spot with ‘Make Luv’.

Other singles that are new entries inside the Top Ten include ‘Come Undone’ by Robbie Williams at Number Four, Blur’s ‘Out Of Time’ at Number Five and ‘Speechless’ by D-Side at Number Nine.

This week’s Top Ten singles are: 1. Room 5 featuring Oliver Cheatham – ‘Make Luv’

2. Madonna – ‘American Life’

3. 50 Cent – ‘In Da Club’

4. Robbie Williams – ‘Come Undone’

5. Blur – ‘Out Of Time’

6. Junior Senior – ‘Move Your Feet’

7. Kym Marsh – ‘Cry’

8. Gareth Gates – ‘Spirit In The Sky’
