But there's no place for Britney or Eminem...
MADONNA, PUFF DADDY, BJORK, MEATLOAF and PRINCE are amongst the artists to have been added to the updated version of the NEW GROVE DICTIONARY OF MUSIC AND MUSICIANS.
However, stars who have risen within the last couple of years, such as Britney Spears, Eminem and Backstreet Boys, have been omitted.
The Dictionary editor Stanley Sadie told [url=]www.ananova.com
that only artists with enduring appeal had been selected.
“If it’s around eight years then we put it in the book because it’s part of history,” he said.
Barry Manilow has also found a place in the new edition.
