Madonna has confirmed the release dates for her forthcoming single and album.
The superstar releases her new single, Music, on August 21 through Warners. The single will feature dance remixes of the track by Groove Armada, Deep Dish, Hex Hector and Victor Calderone.
The video for the Music is directed by Jonas Akerland, who worked on Madonna‘s critically acclaimed ‘Ray Of Light’ video. As previously reported on nme.com, the video also features a cameo appearance from comedian Ali G.
‘Music’ will be the first release from her eighth studio album, also titled Music, which will follow on September 18. The album has been co-produced by Madonna, along with French house pioneer Mirwais, Mark ‘Spike’ Stent and William Orbit, who also worked on her last album, ‘Ray Of Light’.
Speaking about the new album, Madonna‘s manager Caresse Henry said: “Music combines elements of pop, electronica, folk and dance with a funky edge.”
There had been speculation that the single Music could be released as early as the start of July, two months ahead of schedule, because it has already appeared on the Internet. It is thought to be the first time that Internet availability has prompted a recording artist to react in such a way.
