Queen of pop to play '60s icon Dusty Springfield?...

MADONNA is being tipped in the UK tabloids this morning to play DUSTY SPRINGFIELD in a movie of the pop icon’s life.

According to The Star, Madonna and new husband Guy Ritchie’s MadGuy film company will make the £1.5 million movie which they describe as “no-holds-barred” account of the late singer’s “sex life, booze battle and money problems”.

Springfield, who died in 1999 after a battle against breast cancer, had hits throughout the ’60s such as ‘I Only Want To Be With You’, ‘I Just Don’t Know What To Do With Myself’, ‘Son Of A Preacher Man’ and ‘You Don’t Have To Say You Love Me’.

In 1987 she had a Number Two hit with the Pet Shop Boys on ‘What Have I Done To Deserve This?’ and she continued to release records at intervals through the ’90s until 1995.
