Manic Street Preachers are setting up a new recording studio near Newport, Wales.

The band are reported to be converting a secluded cottage into a studio, following planning permission being granted.

Newport City Council recently issued a decision notice granting approval for the change in the building’s use, reports Wales Online.

There are some impositions on the Caerleon cottage, including a maximum of eight people being allowed to use the facility at once and operating hours fixed to between 9am and 10pm on weekdays and 9am to 6pm on weekends.

The council also said the studio would be solely for the use of Manic Street Preachers and not to be used by other musicians.

The band will have to increase on-site parking and undertake a series of soundproofing measures to ensure nearby properties aren’t disturbed by the noise.
