Organisers hope to raise to raise £1 million for victims of the disaster, which hit on Boxing Day (December 26).
Over 40,000 tickets, which range from £15 to £30, have been snapped up so far, with 20,000 sold within the first hour of going on sale.
The stadium is expected to hold up to 65,000 on the day of the event.
Stadium manager Paul Sergeant told BBC News: “We had a fantastic response over the weekend, with the ticket sales reaching 45,000 by tea time on Sunday – it’s an incredible achievement,” he said.
“We are over the moon, we have a good line-up, but this shows that people want to come together to pay their respects and mark the tsunami disaster.”
The gig is expected to start at 2pm and finish at around 10.30pm.
