Wales' finest are the surprise additions to this year's bill...

Manic Street Preachers are to headline the NME STAGE at V2002, we can exclusively announce.

The Manic Street Preachers are the latest addition to the festival at Hylands Park, Chelmsford on August 17 and Weston Park, Staffordshire on August 18. The V stage at the festival is headlined by Stereophonics and, following the withdrawal of Travis due to drummer Neil Primrose’s back injury, the Chemical Brothers.

The Manic Street Preachers are to use their appearance on the NME Stage at V as a warm-up for their greatest hits tour in December and a preview of their singles collection, ‘Forever Delayed’, released on October 28.

V2002 Festival Director, Bob Angus commented: “We’re really pleased to have secured the performance of such a high profile headliner for the NME Stage this year. The Manic Street Preachers are one of the UK’s most important bands and top off the bill very nicely, alongside the other major Welsh rock band, Stereophonics who headline the V Stage. V2002 is all set to be the best V festival yet.”

Fellow V2002 Festival Director, Simon Moran added: “The Manic Street Preachers headlined V99 and it’s great to welcome them back for V2002. It’s given V a bit of a Welsh theme, with both Stereophonics and the Manic Street Preachers, two of Wales’ biggest exports headlining stages at the festival!”
