A 20ft painting commissioned by MANIC STREET PREACHERS has been removed from CARDIFF city centre, just hours after being put up.

According to the BBC, Cardiff County Council removed Neale Howells’ painting – which contained expletives and images of male genitalia – hours after it was put up beside the city’s Millennium Stadium, saying they had received several complaints.

The painting was commissioned by the band in conjunction with their release of their album, ‘Know Your Enemy’. Howells is recognised as one of Wales’ foremost – and most controversial – contemporary artists.

A documentary about the band’s historic gig in Cuba last month is broadcast on Channel 4 tonight (March 24).
