'The Dragon's Breath' took two years to put together...
MANIC STREET PREACHERS, STEREOPHONICS, STEPS, THE ALARM, JOHN CALE, TOM JONES and BONNIE TYLER are among the artists featured in a new radio documentary series tracing the history of Welsh rock from the ’50s to the present.
The six-part series, called ‘The Dragon’s Breath’, took two years to piece together, involving 125 hours of tapes and 59 interviews with rock and pop icons who have Welsh connections, including a piece on how Kurt Cobain was influenced by a Welsh band, Feeder, Badfinger, Budgie from The Banshees, Steve Strange, Green Gartside of Scritti Politti and Cerys Matthews are also featured.
Producer Darren Broome and presenter John Rhys Harris have previously produced a documentary on the Stereophonics.
The series begins on February 26, and hour-long episodes will be broadcast for six successive nights at 6.30pm on Radio Wales – [url=]Click here. It can also be heard through Sky Digital channel 928.
