Manic Street Preachers to premiere new single tomorrow (July 8)?

The Welsh band take to Twitter to drop hints about new material

Manic Street Preachers have taken to Twitter to drop hints about their new material, reports The Line Of Best Fit.

The Welsh band, who are currently on tour in Australia and New Zealand, wrote on their official page “Manics fans might want to listen to 6music Monday morning”. It has been suggested that a new single could be premiered on the radio station tomorrow.

The group later followed that tweet with another, this time including a photo of a CD with “Manic Street Preachers Rewind The Film 18/6/13” written on it. Rumours around the Manics’ next record have suggested it will be called ‘Rewind The Film’, although this has yet to be confirmed by the band or any official source.

Recently, James Dean Bradfield told NME the band had written two new albums, with 35 tracks recorded in total. Speaking about the first of the pair, he said: “We’ve nearly finished mixing this one. It’s much more acoustic based – I think there’s one electric guitar on the entire record. But it’s not Campfire Street Preachers, we’re not banging boxes or anything.”

According to the singer, the second album is “a lot spikier and shinier” with a “tiny bit of krautrock influence.” He also explained that lyrically it was concerned with “the malaise of us Brits not feeling part of [Europe].”

The Manics are due to play Festival No 6 at the village of Portmeirion in North Wales over the weekend of September 13-15. Other acts on the bill include Neon Neon, James Blake, Everything Everything, Jagwar Ma, Temples and Aluna George. For more information head to now.
