The first new Mansun material has started to surface, remixed by veteran DJ Paul Oakenfold.

The track is called ‘I Will Only Disappoint You’, and a version of the song will feature on the band’s as-yet-untitled third album, scheduled for release in late summer. The track was played on Radio 1‘s ‘Essential Mix’ last Friday (May 26), and again over the weekend.

Speaking via the official Mansun website, [url=]www.mansun.co.uk, the band posted the following message: “The band have been remixed by Paul Oakenfold for a track that is on the forthcoming album. Apparently Oakenfold has already started playing the track at various night spots around the world to rapturous ovations…hope you like it!”

A spokesperson for the band also enthused about the track, telling nme.com that it sounded simply “great”, and a change of direction from their last album, ‘Six’.

Mansun are also confirmed to play at this year’s V2000 festivals at Hylands Park, Chelmsford, and Weston Park, Staffordshire over the weekend of August 19-20.
