John 5 says life on the road with the shock rocker was like being in 'Full Metal Jacket'....
MARILYN MANSON’s ex-guitarist JOHN 5 has spoken out about leaving.
As previously reported, the long-time guitarist will not feature in Manson’s future plans as the shock rocker starts work on new material.
Speaking to MTV, John 5 said that he “loved” working with Manson, but life on the road could be unpredictable.
He said: “Since the day I joined, it was like being in ‘Full Metal Jacket’. Being onstage with Marilyn Mansonis like being in a war zone. You never know when he’s gonna freak out and throw shit at you. I loved every minute of it.
“I was nothing but nice to him. I never screwed up onstage — well not really badly — and I did everything I could to get along with him. Maybe, just maybe, it had something to do with the fact that I don’t drink or do drugs, and he’s not like that at all. Maybe he held that against me. I don’t know. He never said.”
Manson is currently in the studio recording new material, some of which will appear on a forthcoming ’Greatest Hits’ collection.
Due for release in the Autumn, the LP will span the self-proclaimed ‘God Of Fuck”s ten-year career. There are also plans to release a DVD of Manson‘s entire video history.
According to a statement on the shock rocker’s official website [/a]’s ‘Personal Jesus’. In addition to a booklet of rare photos and artwork by Marilyn Manson, the entire video catalogue will be included for the first time ever on DVD, featuring the never-before-seen, uncensored cut of ‘(s)AINT’ directed by Asia Argento.”
