MARILYN MANSON‘s ‘THE GOLDEN AGE OF GROTESQUE’ sold a modest 118,000 copies on its first week on sale in the US – but it was enough to give the shock rocker his first Number One album in five years.

The star’s sales are the lowest of any album that debuted in the top spot this year. The record edged out the year’s biggest selling record and former chart-topper, 50 Cent’s ‘Get Rich or Die Tryin’, which sold 106,000 copies to sit at Number Two this week.

Metal band Cold sold 101,000 units of their new record, ‘Year of the Spider’, to enter the chart at Number Three.

Marilyn Manson‘s reign at the top looks to be short-lived, as [a][/a]’s third LP ’14 Shades of Grey’ is out this week. The band’s last album ‘Break The Cycle’ sold 716,000 copies in it’s first week on sale in 2001.
