Manson performed classic Pumpkins track 'Ava Adore' with band
Marilyn Manson has joined Smashing Pumpkins onstage for the second time in three months to perform the band’s track ‘Ava Adore’.
Manson joined the band during their performance of the classic hit at Sydney’s Soundwave Festival last weekend. You can watch a fan-recorded video of the performance below.
In December, Manson also performed two songs with Smashing Pumpkins in London. The singer, who was in the UK promoting his latest album ‘The Pale Emperor’, joined the band for the encore of their gig at Camden venue KOKO to play his own track ‘Third Day Of A Seven Day Binge’ as well as ‘Ava Adore’.
Manson had previously hinted at the collaboration, telling NME: “It’s harder for bands of our generation to make a dent. But that’s exactly why we might end up on stage together somewhere in London very soon. While we’re both here, we should do it on the spot, like ’21 Jump Street’.” At the end of the first track, he addressed the crowd, saying: “Goddamn Smashing Motherfucking Pumpkins.”
During his own gig in Brisbane last week, Manson was joined onstage by actor Johnny Depp, who played guitar on a rendition of Manson’s 1996 single ‘The Beautiful People’. The pair are long-time friends and Depp has performed with Manson and his band numerous times in the past. They also worked together in 2012 on a cover Carly Simon’s 1972 hit ‘You’re So Vain’, with the Rum Diary star playing drums and lead guitar and Manson providing the vocals.
Manson’s ninth studio album ‘The Pale Emperor’ was released earlier this year. The singer has been confirmed to headline the second stage of Download Festival on June 13.
