As witchhunt hots up Manson postpones dates - plus NME 'not guilty' e-card

Marilyn Manson[/a] has postponed the last five dates of his current tour ‘out of respect for those lost in the (Littleton)school tragedy’ according to his official website.

He will however continue to play the ‘Big Day Out’ in the UK in July according to official sources.

In an official statement on the site he says: “People are trying to sort out what happened and to deal with their losses. It’s not a great atmosphere to be out playing rock’n’roll shows, for us or the fans. “

Tackling the furore that has exploded around him and Goth music in general he says: “The media has unfairly scapegoated the music industry and so-called Goth kids and has speculated – with no basis in truth – that artists like myself are in some way to blame. This tragedy was a product of ignorance, hatred, and an access to guns. I hope the media’s irresponsible finger – pointing doesn’t create more discrimination against kids who look different.”

See this week’s NME which examines the media scapegoating of music and Marilyn Manson.

The band will postpone May 3rd (Reno, NV), May 4th (Fresno, CA), May 5th (Las Vegas, NV) May 7th (Phoenix, AZ) and May 8th (Universal City, CA).
