Marilyn Manson says his new music is ‘very cinematic’

The musician says the new songs fuse 'old blues' with 'hard elements'

Marilyn Manson has confirmed that he is working on new music, calling the material “very cinematic”.

Speaking to Kerrang, the musician said that he’s currently in the process of completing a “considerable body of work”. He added: “It’s very cinematic. The redneck in me comes out in my voice, and its got some old blues mixed with the very hard elements. I want to retain what I think is good about the past, what music I did and who I am. It’s not about being pissed about the world – it’s about realising someone has to fuck things up.” Manson released his eighth studio album, ‘Born Villain’, in 2012.

Manson is set to headline this year’s Alt-Fest. The appearance will be Manson’s only UK festival appearance in 2014. The new hard rock, industrial and metal event will take place from August 15-17, 2014, at Boughton Estate in Kettering, Northamptonshire. Of Manson’s appearance, festival organiser Dominic Void has said: “We are ecstatic to have booked Marilyn Manson to headline for our first year; this means a lot to us and particularly our fans.”
