Marilyn Manson to guest-star in supernatural series ‘Salem’

He's reported to be playing a barber/surgeon called Thomas Dinley

Marilyn Manson is set to guest-star in Salem, a supernatural series set in 17th century Massachusetts and centring on the Salem witch trials.

Manson will play a barber/surgeon named Thomas Dinley in the third season of the show. According to a report by The Wrap, his character is “the go-to man in Salem, from a shave and a haircut to being leeched, bled, sliced open or sewn up.”

It is not the first time Manson has been involved with the series. In 2014 he contributed a song called ‘Cupid Carries A Gun’ to its soundtrack. The song appeared in the second-ever episode of the show, in April 2014.

Speaking then, Manson said, “The occult and witchcraft is so often used in cinema with a heinous disregard for even researching its origins. I liked the themes of Salem. It looks at the witch trials without being cliché like most modern films.” It marked the first time Manson had agreed for one of his tracks to be used on television.

In the past Manson has acted in various shows including Sons of Anarchy and Californication.

Meanwhile, Manson recently recorded a cover of David Bowie and Giorgio Moroder’s 1982 single ‘Cat People’.

The track will feature as part of a tribute compilation to seminal Italian disco pioneer Moroder entitled ‘Countach (For Giorgio)’ – due for release on February 26.

Country singer Brandi Carlile and astronaut Richard Garriott de Cayeux are also credited on the tracklisting. The project has been helmed by country rocker Shooter Jennings – who first announced plans for the record back in 2014.

Manson’s take on the track – originally penned by Moroder as the theme song for the 1982 movie of the same name – is yet to be revealed.
