MARILYN MANSON has claimed if Republican presidential candidate GEORGE W BUSH is elected US President, it will “encourage a lot more interesting art”.

Speaking to website [url=]www.wallofsound.go.com, about the current election chaos in the US, Manson said: “I think that art of all sort, whether it’s music or comedy or literature or even journalism, everything flourishes under conservative rule, because it gives people something to rail against.

“In the Clinton years, we were only railing against each other. We were looking for the enemy; we were looking for the depression to find, and it was just us. Now, if Bush does win, it’ll probably encourage a lot more interesting art.”

Manson continued, and spoke out against the “unintentional generation of nihilism” created by American society. He added: “They’ve marketed everything to teenagers and then told teenagers that their opinions don’t matter. It’s made a lot of angry people. That’s why these outbursts of violence happen; people want to be listened to. Kids come out of the womb crying, and they continue to – in many ways – and parents stop listening after awhile.”

Marilyn Manson has announced three UK shows for January. He will play: Birmingham NEC (January 21)

Manchester MEN Arena (22)

London Docklands Arena (24)

Tickets are on sale now, priced £16.50 outside London and £18.50 for the Docklands Arena show.
