Marina And The Diamonds: ‘Don’t trust Guns N’ Roses’ Axl, he’s got braids!’

Singer stokes up a friendly Reading And Leeds Festivals rivalry with fellow headliners

Marina And The Diamonds are set to square off against Guns N’ Roses at the Reading And Leeds Festivals this weekend (August 27-29) – and believes the novelty of being a girl on the bill gives her the edge.

The singer will headline the Festival Republic Stage today (August 27) at Reading and on Sunday (29) at Leeds, while Axl Rose and co play the Main Stage.

“The number of guy bands are going to massively outnumber the female bands over the weekend,” she told NME. To read the full interview with the singer, pick up this week’s issue of NME (out nationwide now and also available digitally worldwide).

“This turn of events may make me practically exotic. So I will be milking the situation for all it’s worth.”

She added she was a bit suspicious of Rose anyway, jokingly warning festival-goers that “nobody should trust a guy with braids”.

NME is coming live from both sites at Reading And Leeds Festivals this weekend. Head to NME.COM/festivals for full coverage including news, reviews, videos and picture galleries.
