Musician discusses having to rush-release his first Number One single
Mark Ronson has said that “it feels great” to have his first UK Number One with new single ‘Uptown Funk’ but that he’d feel guilty if the song took the Christmas top spot.
Speaking to NME in a video you can watch above, the DJ and producer said he “always assumes Christmas Number One will be the Pogues or Rage Against the Machine” and that he wishes “he had enough time to make a Christmas version of his single”.
On the topic of ‘Uptown funk’ being rush-released after X Factor contender Fleur East performed it on the ITV show two weeks ago, Ronson admitted that he was annoyed at first. “I realised this girl’s cover was going to come out before our own. For a minute I was a little bit annoyed,” he said.
Ronson’s new album ‘Uptown Special’ is due for release on January 19 via Columbia Records.
