The track has been shared to coincide with what would’ve been Jackson’s 60th birthday today (August 29). He passed away in 2009 at the age of 50.
Commissioned by the late artist’s label Sony, Ronson has created ‘Diamonds Are Invincible’ by mashing up a number of Jackson’s greatest hits. These include the likes of ‘Wanna Be Startin’ Somethin”, ‘Billie Jean’ and ‘Smooth Criminal’. Listen to the new track below.
According to Ronson, working on ‘Diamonds Are Invincible’ “was such an amazing, awe-inspiring and insanely intimidating task to put together”.
In other Michael Jackson news, newly-released court documents have shed light on the finances of the late artist’s estate – indicating that they are in a better financial position now than they were when Jackson was still alive.
Jackson’s estate and Sony Music were also cleared this week from a long-standing fan lawsuit. The suit claimed that three tracks on the posthumous Jackson album ‘Michael’, which was released in 2010, didn’t actually feature the late artist’s vocals.
Both Sony and the estate have long denied these claims, and won their case in an appeals court yesterday (August 28).
