NME.COM’S MASSIVE EXCLUSIVE!

Hear the group's first new material since 1998 - and chat to the group as well...

MASSIVE ATTACK are to make a brand new track, ‘THE NATURE OF THE THREAT’, exclusively available via NME.COM from this Wednesday (November 8).

The track will form part of a Massive Attack web-wheel, which will be set up in conjunction with a number of other websites, including the Red Cross website, www.photonet.org.co.uk

The other websites will have other, rare tracks such as B-sides and remixes but only NME.COM will have the group’s first new material since their 1998 album ‘Mezzanine’. The web-wheel will be visible until November 22.

In addition to the track, 3-D and Daddy G are confirmed to take part in a webchat on November 17. Speaking about the group’s decision to do the chat, 3-D said: “It’s all right updating your website but it takes so long you never get the chance to communicate closely with everyone. We thought that if we did something a bit more specific, we could draw people into a closer interaction with us.”

Both events coincide with the release of a new book by 3-D called ‘Fitting In’. The book features images and paintings from the past 10 years as well as pieces never before seen. Only 50 books will be made available to the public with the proceeds going to the Red Cross.

For an interview with Massive Attack’s 3-D, containing information on the band’s forthcoming studio album, see this week’s NME, out in London tomorrow (November 7) and nationwide from Wednesday (8).
