Massive Attack joined by TV On The Radio’s Tunde Adebimpe for first ‘Pray For Rain’ live performance

Track original appeared on 2010 album 'Heligoland'

Massive Attack were joined on-stage by TV On The Radio lead vocalist Tunde Adebimpe for what was their first ever live performance of ‘Pray For Rain’.

Consequence of Sound
reports that the song formed part of the Bristol group’s encore at a gig at The Greek Theatre in Los Angeles on Thursday night (October 16). Click above to watch fan-recorded footage of the performance.

Adebimpe co-wrote and provided vocals on the original track, which opened Massive Attack’s 2010 album ‘Heligoland’. While that remains their most recent album, founding member 3D has said that the band have recorded enough new material to fill a new record. Speaking in July, 3D – real name Robert Del Naja – discussed the progress of the follow-up.

“To be honest there’s a whole album of new material sitting in a studio at the moment which isn’t finished and hasn’t been played at all yet,” he said.

“There’s one track I’ve done with Tricky… but I’ve gotta play it live with him really, and that’s not ready for this tour yet as it would have just been a bit haphazard to throw it in there for these shows.”

TV On The Radio, meanwhile, will release their new album ‘Seeds’ on November 18.
