Band have axed 16 dates around the world due to 'personal family matter'
Mastodon have pulled out of a number of upcoming live dates, including an appearance at Reading and Leeds Festival, due to a “personal family matter” within the band.
The band have axed 16 dates in total, with appearances at Oya Festival in Norway and Belgium’s Pukkelpop also affected. Dates affected by the personal matter span the period between August 7 and September 3.
Mastodon were due to headline The Pit at Reading and Leeds. Organisers have confirmed that they will be replaced at the top of the bill by Swedish metal band Ghost.
Billboard reports that Mastodon will return to the road for Latin American dates in late September. A gig originally scheduled for September 5 in Reykjavik will now take place at the Rokkjotnar Festival on December 5.
Reading and Leeds will take place this year from August 28 – 30 simultaneously at Richfield Avenue and Bramham Park respectively. Headliners for the event are Mumford and Sons, Metallica and The Libertines.
Other acts announced for this year’s fest include The Cribs, The Maccabees, Palma Violets, A$AP Ferg, Azealia Banks, Django Django, Everything Everything, Slaves, Frank Turner, Peace, Swim Deep, Twin Atlantic, Parquet Courts, Spector, Charli XCX and more.
