Mastodon guitarist Brent Hinds has shared some gruesome pictures of his injuries from a hit-and-run he was a victim of back in January when he was knocked off his motorcycle.
The metal frontman posted the selfies in a combative post on Instagram yesterday (November 8). In the caption, Hinds confirmed that he missed the Grammy awards ceremony back in January – where the band picked up their first award, for Best Metal Performance – due to his injuries.
In the caption, he teased the rest of Mastodon for not acknowledging him in their acceptance speech. The post explained: “[The hit-and-run was] why I couldn’t attend the Grammy’s [sic] where we actually on a Grammy ..!(because I was involved in a hit and run on my motorcycle that ended me up in pistola).. that i got absolutely NO shout out from my best friends/band mates? ..I know they love me and just be havin stupid nervousness, but still !”.

The guitarist used these grisly shots to also promote the release of film Hell Bound, whose soundtrack features some monster riffs from Hinds.
This isn’t the first time that Hinds has wound up in hospital and shared the news via Instagram. In 2016, he posted a shot of his leg wrapped in plaster and ice after he broke it trying to start his motorcycle.
A since-deleted post on Mastodon’s Facebook page confirmed the cancellation, with the band “extending their sincerest thanks to their loyal fans as well as the fans of Dinosaur Jr. for their support and understanding at this time.”
