MICHAEL DAVIS, the original bassist with MC5, turned up at ALAN McGEE’S POPTONES label club night RADIO4 in LONDON last night (Wednesday, August 30).
The legend, who has been living a solitary existence in the Arizona desert for the last 20 years, had been in London for a few days in connection with the documentary that’s being made on MC5. He joined Alan McGee and Primal Scream mainman Bobby Gillespie, and Bobby G was so impressed at meeting his idol – the Primals have been covering ‘Kick Out The Jams’ on the road this year – he decided to take to the decks. He and McGee DJ’d until 5am, and Davis was reportedly so impressed he declared that he wanted to up sticks and move to England.
Other celebs at the fast-becoming star-studded club night were Cliff Jones, Jagz Kooner, MC Kinky, Pete Voss of Campag Velocet, David Holmes and Pam Hogg.
