Merchandise reveal new album title and release date, share ‘End Of The Week’

It’s the second track from their forthcoming album ‘A Corpse Wired For Sound’

Merchandise have shared the video for ‘End Of The Week’, the second track to be taken from their forthcoming album, which they have revealed is titled ‘A Corpse Wired For Sound’ and will be released on September 23 via 4AD. You can watch the video for ‘End Of The Week’ below.

The new track follows the video for ‘Flower Of Sex’, the track Merchandise shared last month (June), which was the first new material from the Tampa, Florida-based band since their 2014 album ‘After The End’.

Speaking about the video in a press release, frontman Carson Cox said: “It’s the broken image of humanity reflecting back at everyone when they read the news,” explaining the symbolism behind its use of mirrors.

The band have also shared the tracklist for ‘A Corpse Wired For Sound’, which you can see at the bottom of the page, whilst 4AD tweeted the album artwork earlier today. You can also see that below.

Speaking about ‘A Corpse Wired For Sound’ in a press release, guitarist Dave Vassalotti said: “We were ‘reborn’ as a rock band for ‘After The End’. And then we straight-up died again. It couldn’t last. The result is this distended corpse responding to you from both sides of the Atlantic, forever singing in spite of everything.”

The band return to touring with a show in their native Florida on September 22 shortly before the new album’s release. It ends with Merchandise’s only confirmed European date, at London Lexington, although a source confirmed to NME that they hope that more UK dates will be announced by the time of the album’s release.
