The video was directed by Tim Saccenti who aimed to take the band’s Florida roots and turn them into a “dream-state visual backdrop for the song.” The subsequent visuals see frontman Carson Cox dressed as a mariachi musician as he performs the song before being apprehended by a gang, who tie him to a chair and torture him.
Merchandise will release their new album ‘After The End’ in August. The Florida band will release the album on August 25. It is the band’s third release to date and their first since signing to 4AD, which is also home to The National, Bon Iver and Grimes. It follows the 2013 release of ‘Totale Nite.’
Speaking about the album to NME upon signing with 4AD, Cox said: “We’re going to remake ourselves as a pop band. We don’t have to put any long songs on the album so now we can just do a formal pop record. I’m talking about pop, rock and R&B. I feel like it’s going to be moody and sentimental.”
