HAVIN’ IT SMALL!

The series features departed bass player Jason Newsted - but hey, the Beatles set's got John in there...

METALLICA have followed in the footsteps of OZZY OSBOURNE, THE BEATLES and KISS to be immortalised as plastic action toys in the US.

According to MTV news, guitarist Kirk Hammett, singer James Hetfield, drummer Lars Ulrich and departed bass player Jason Newsted have all been made into plastic dolls by McFarlane Toys.

Company boss Todd McFarlane defended his decision to produce a band line-up which is no longer contemporary. He said: “(Music is) like sports now, where somebody phones and you just finished painting someone, and they go, ‘Oh, he’s just been traded. We made the Beatles … John Lennon isn’t alive, and the Beatles are no longer together. So, Jason was with them for a long time, so it became not necessarily the true Metallica. It becomes the classic Metallica.”

It is currently unclear if the dolls will be made available in the UK.

Metallica are currently searching for a new bass player after the departure of Newsted last month. Speaking at the time, he cited “private and personal reasons, and the physical damage that I have done to myself over the years” as the main reasons for his departure from the band after 14 years.
