Metallica are the latest band to be added to the bill of the first ever TATTOO THE EARTH festival in the US.
Metallica will headline the festival when it visits the New York Giants Stadium on July 20, under the title ‘Metallica Tattoos The Earth’. Speaking about Metallica playing the festival, creator Scott Alderman said: “The response to Tattoo The Earth has been phenomenal, and Metallica doing our New York show could not be any cooler!”
Other bands confirmed to play the main stage on the other dates include Slipknot, Slayer, Sevendust, Coal Chamber, Sepultura, Downset, (hed) p.e. and Puya. The second stage will feature live performances from Nashville Pussy, Mudvayne, Hatebreed, Full Devil Jacket, Workhorse Movement and Famous.
The aim of the tour is to combine the heaviest rock bands in the US with stalls featuring the “top rock and roll tattoo and body artists in the world”. Tattoo artists confirmed to be appearing at the festival include Paul Booth, Hanky Panky and Sean Vasquez, who are famous for tattooing numerous rock bands in the States. Fans who wish to be tattooed by them often have to wait for up to two years to get an appointment.
Dates confirmed for the tour so far are: Portland Meadows (July 15), Lawrence Burcham Park (18), New York Giants Stadium (20), Scranton Montage Mountain (21), Boston Suffolk Downs (22), Cleveland Nautica (24), Des Moines Waterworks Park (27), Minneapolis Floatrite Park (28), Detroit Phoenix Plaza (30)
Promoters anticipate there will be 25 dates on the tour in total, with more dates added via the Tattoo The Earth website, [url=]www.tattootheearth.com, in the coming weeks. Plans are currently underway for European and Australian versions of the tour.
