METALLICA’s management have dismissed as “totally fake” rumours – started on a fake web-page apparently designed to look like a CNN news story – that LARS ULRICH was shot at the weekend.
The fake story, which purported to have been supplied by Associated Press, said that the drummer had been shot while leaving a hotel in Austin, Texas on Sunday (December 17) by a 23-year-old gunman who said: “You killed Napster”, and was rushed to Brackenridge Hospital with gunshot wounds to the groin and abdomen.
A spokesperson for the band told NME.COM: “It’s fake. Management have said it is totally fake and untrue. We don’t yet know if they will be taking any further action.”
