Metronomy and MKS unite for NME Awards performance – watch

Original Sugababes line-up join Brighton band on stage at O2 Academy Brixton for special collaboration


Metronomy kicked off this year’s NME Awards, with Austin, Texas by performing new song ‘Love Letters’ with MKS.

Joe Mount and his band were joined by the original line-up of Sugababes for a special one-off performance of the song, which features on their new album of the same name.

Later in the evening Paul McCartney appeared to collect the special, one-off honour of NME’s Songwriter’s Songwriter, while Damon Albarn collected the brand new NME Award For Innovation.

Other performances on the night included Best New Band winners Drenge plus The Horrors and Blondie, who have been named this year’s Godlike Genius. The iconic band collected the award in person and performed at the end of the show. In addition, Belle & Sebastian received the Teenage Cancer Trust Outstanding Contribution To Music Award also performed live.
