The band release their fourth album 'Love Letters' on March 10
Metronomy‘s Joe Mount says he doesn’t want his band to play Wembley Stadium.
Mount discussed his “modest ambitions” in a new interview with Gigwise. “Having said that, with each record it would be very weird to not want it to be popular and to not want it to be successful,” said the songwriter about the forthcoming ‘Love Letters’ LP, the band’s fourth album. “I’d love it if its success is much bigger than the last album. I feel really happy with the record, I’m really proud of it so I’m excited for people to hear it, and for as many people to hear it as possible. But I don’t want to play Wembley Stadium.”
Metronomy recently streamed the album’s title track, which you can hear below. ‘Love Letters’ will be released on March 10. It follows 2011’s ‘The English Riviera’ and features the single ‘I’m Aquarius’. The video for ‘Love Letters’ will be directed by Michel Gondry (Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind), who has made music videos for the likes of Bjork, Beck, The White Stripes and Radiohead.
Following stand-alone dates at Brighton’s The Old Market on January 29 and Paris Maroquinerie on January 31, the band will embark on a full UK tour in March, after an instore at London’s Rough Trade East on March 9. The band will play 12 dates on the stretch, which kicks off on March 13 in Liverpool before a final show on March 28 at London’s O2 Academy Brixton. They will also play the inaugural BBC Radio 6 Music Festival in Manchester on February 28 and headline Field Day festival in London on June 7.
