Metronomy: ‘Our new album sounds like Daft Punk meets The Eagles’

'The English Riviera' is due out in spring 2011

Metronomy have revealed that some of their forthcoming new album sounds like “Daft Punk meets The Eagles“.

Entitled ‘The English Riviera’ and due out in spring 2011, the album is the follow-up to 2008’s ‘Nights Out’.

“We’ve been recording a new album which is pretty much done,” bassist Gbenga Adelekan told Triple J. “Some of it is like Daft Punk meets The Eagles if you can believe that. Some of it is even weirder, more electronic. Some of it is almost like stuff from the first Metronomy album, very weird electronica. And then there’s some really cool pop music on there as well.”

“We’ve gotten a really good response to the new songs we’ve played,” he continued. “It’s going to be a lot of fun to play live.”

Currently on tour in Australia, the band will kick off a UK tour in Manchester on January 19, 2011.
