New Yorkers pack out NME/Radio 1 Stage
MGMT proved one of the biggest draws on the NME/Radio 1 stage at the Leeds Festival today (August 23).
The New York duo were in impressive form, playing a selection of songs from their ‘Oracular Spectacular’ album to a tent that was packed-out with fans right to the edges and beyond.
The band opened their set with a selection of their more prog-leaning tracks, before inspiring wild scenes with fan-favourites ‘The Handshake’ and ‘Time To Pretend’.
“Leeds is cool, huh?” singer Andrew VanWyngarden asked the crowd as the band took to the stage.
He later ordered fans to get moving during set-highlight ‘Electric Feel’. “You’re gonna have to dance to this one,” he told the crowd.
After a triumphant ‘Kids’ the crowd started loud chants of the song’s synth hook which carried on long after the band left the stage.
‘4th Dimensional Transition’
‘Pieces Of What’
‘Of Moons, Birds and Monsters’
‘Time To Pretend’
