MIA reveals new album title

Singer eschews normal lettering for album three

MIA has eschewed traditional lettering by naming her forthcoming third album ‘///Y/’ – which apparently spells out Mya in code.

The announcement was made on the blog section on the website of her record label, Neet Recordings,

It was also revealed on the site that the album will be released on July 12 in the UK, and a day later in the USA (two weeks after its previsouly-scheduled release date).

‘///Y/’ will be the follow-up to her 2007 album ‘Kala’.

Get this week’s issue of NME, on UK newsstands nationwide from tomorrow (May 12), for a exclusive cover story interview with MIA, plus her reaction to the controversy surrounding the video for her new song ‘Born Free’.
