MIA announces new album’s title and release date

It will be trailed by a new single called 'Go Off' which debuts tomorrow (July 15)

MIA has announced the title and release date of her fifth album.

Her new LP ‘AIM’ will drop on September 9, her camp confirmed to Pitchfork after a post on her official website ended with the teasing message “AIM 9/9”.

The album will be trailed by the single ‘Go Off’, a collaboration with Skrillex that is due to debut tomorrow (July 15). MIA has already shared the song’s lyrics on her Tumblr.

The rapper had said on Twitter on Monday (July 12) that she was “so on the verge of leaking this album” because she hates it when “big Americana artists take from me and my work and refugee sentiments from my work before its release”.

In March, she released a new song called ‘MIA OLA – Foreign Friend,’ which is expected to feature on the album alongside the songs ‘Warriors’ and ‘Swords’, which she dropped in 2015.

Earlier this year, she teamed up with H&M, penning a new song called ‘Rewear It’ for World Recycle Week. The song formed part of an initiative by the clothing chain to encourage customers to recycle unwanted clothes at its stores.

Her last album, ‘Matangi’, came out in 2013. It featured singles including ‘Bad Girls’, ‘Come Walk With Me’ and ‘Bring The Noize’.
