M.I.A to give song away for European Parliament Election

Musician plans to give a free track to people who vote for her favourite candidate

MIA has announced that she will be giving away a song to people who vote for independent candidate Jan Jananayagam in the forthcoming European Parliament Elections.

Like MIA, Jananayagam is opposed to war in Sri Lanka and has been lobbying the British government to intervene. The election takes place tomorrow (June 4).

The rapper explained her intention to give the gift to those who vote for the London candidate through her MySpace blog at Myspace.com/mia, although she did not reveal its title or how it would be distributed to voters.

“VOTE FOR JAN JANA !!! AND ILL GIVE YOU A FREE SONG!” wrote the star.

The Brooklyn-based musician posted another message to the ‘People of London‘ which read: “If u r in London in the next 3 days 1 hour out of ur day could save 300,000 of people.”

Jananayagam is the first female Asian independent candidate to stand for the European Elections.
